About Me and My Vision

Hi!
My name is Carissa Thurman. As a dedicated resident of Eagle Mountain, I know how deeply our schools shape our community—and how vital it is that they reflect our values, our strengths, and our hopes for the future. With the creation of our new school district, we’re at a defining moment. It’s not just about managing change—it’s about setting the tone for the kind of educational environment we want to create today, with a lasting impact that will benefit our children and those who follow.
Likewise, as a social worker, I care deeply about meeting the needs of children and families and helping them feel empowered in their lives. I’m passionate about supporting the “person in their environment,” and I see this new school district as a unique opportunity to build systems where students, families, and the broader community can thrive—now and for generations to come.
My mission is rooted in connection, shared responsibility, and long-term vision. I want to help set the district up for success by building strong school cultures, supporting students and staff, increasing wages for educators, constructing needed schools, and expanding partnerships with local businesses.
I believe we have a real opportunity to create something intentional and lasting: schools that are inclusive, sustainable, locally grounded, and truly excellent.
These values guide everything I do:
Connection and Collaboration
Our schools should be a hub of belonging and shared effort.
Purpose-Driven Positivity
Even when things are hard, we move forward with clarity and hope.
Respect and Accountability
Every voice matters, and trust is built through transparency.
Growth and Empowerment
Learning is about more than academics—it’s about growing people.
Sustainability and Long-Term Thinking
Good decisions serve today and tomorrow.
Local Voice and Shared Leadership
Our district should be shaped by those who live, learn, and work here.
I’m committed to listening closely, leading with care, and always keeping our students’ best interests at the heart of every decision. Together, we can build a district that feels like us—and one we’ll be proud to pass on.
Thank you for being part of the conversation and the future of Eagle Mountain.
