Seat 3 Candidates: Michael O’Connor and Charity Judkins

Compare Michael O’Connor and Charity Judkins in one place!

🔔 Update – August 19, 2025

****Please note the limitations I have noted below.**** My goal is not to endorse either Michael or Charity in the general election, but rather to provide a resource for the community

I have reached out to both of Charity and Michael to allow them to add and clarify sections that are incomplete and areas that lacked clarity or highlighted percieved challenges as well as missing answers to the EMCC questions. If they do respond, the chart on this post page may not reflect the most updated info, so please find the link below or above for the post specific for their race for the general election. I will add their requested edits there.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me, Carissa Thurman, in the primary last week. It was a close race—we came in with about 25% of Seat 3’s votes, just behind Michael O’Connor and Charity Judkins, who both had about 29% and were separated by only 4 votes. And Gina Neder was a close 4th place with about 18%. What a close race!

The information below was originally created for the 2025 Eagle Mountain School Board Primary Election (Seat 3) as a competitive analysis during my campaign. Since I am no longer in the race and am less concerned about being misinterpreted by providing my research into my fellow candidates, I will now provide my competitive analysis chart’s info for Charity Judkins and Michael O’Connor as a research resource and I’ve also left the post with charts and summaries as they were visible during the primary at the bottom of the post for transparency.

From the traffic my post received during the primary, it’s clear people want a way to compare candidates, without having to dig through Facebook posts and comments. Both of the candidates moving forward appear to rely heavily on Facebook to share their campaign information.****Please note the limitations I have noted below.**** My goal is not to endorse either Michael or Charity in the general election, but rather to provide a resource for the community.

I will also provide the charts alongside additional comparison info in a future post to help fill in the gaps and try to address some of the limitations of this resource. I anticipate this to include the State’s candidate profiles, Eagle Mountain Community Citizen’s fb group questions, links to their fb pages and a link to Lake Mountain School Board fb page where they have commented on questions.

LIMITATION and Important notes about my charts:

  • My charts were initially created as a competitive analysis.  In a school board race, a competitive analysis helps you understand how voters see the differences between candidates, where you fit in that picture, and how to sharpen your message so it’s clear why someone should vote for you. After making it,  I felt it could be a helpful to others, as well as a way to promote my campaign, so I then provided it for those purposes and created a visual analysis chart to simplify it.   I openly acknowledged then and now the efforts to fairly represent and research the other candidates and the limits and bias inherent in the chart being made by myself and the multiple other limitations as they currently stand.
  • Additionally, they were created at the END OF JUNE and are also incomplete by nature of this. They do not reflect summaries or analysis based on any Facebook posts, comments, or answers the candidates have provided since that time online, nor my in-person experiences hearing either of them speak and answer questions.
  • Despite my best efforts, my research into Charity Judkins was especially limited as seen in the chart having “unknown” sections, resulting in my recognition that the chart gives only a partial picture of her vision and values.
  • While there is more information included for Michael O’Connor, that too remains limited to my research at that time and does not fully represent his vision and values.
  • These charts were created before I met the other candidates in person. Impressions can shift when you meet people and this may be the case for you as well when considering Michael O’Connor and Charity Judkins, which is why I encourage you to look beyond this chart before deciding.

For these reasons, I strongly encourage you to treat the charts in this resource as a starting point, not as your sole source of information.

To help fill in some of the gaps, I will also be adding Michael O’Connor’s and Charity Judkins’ answers that were shared in the Eagle Mountain City Citizens Facebook group during the primary. That way you can compare their own words directly in response to those community questions.

LIMITATION— It appears Charity may not have answered all the questions in the EMCC posts or the admins posting may have mistakenly neglected to include her answers as I am not finding her responses to at least 2-3 of the questions. Despite this I will still include Michael’s answers to those questions. My apologies for this still not being as complete of a resource as I would have liked to have provided for you.

Learn about Carissa Thurman, Michael O’Connor, Charity Judkins, and Gina Neder—those running for Lake Mountain School District—all in one place.

I worked extensively this weekend to create this resource and compile the data from all 4 of us Candidates. Hope it saves you some time in learning about the candidates. Enjoy!

Please share with neighbors if you felt it was helpful to you.

If you still would like a single place that gathers these summaries, analysis, and strengths, unfortunately I don’t feel I can continue to provide it, as even my best efforts to share this info may be misinterpreted.

As such I have removed the summaries of other candidates, but have included just the basics from their campaigns word for word from their websites, social media, etc.

After originally posting this resource, multiple community members had strong reactions that it was unhelpful for me to post info or summaries from other candidates. Rather than viewing it as something that could help them save time and support their efforts to research candidates nor noting that I explicitly noted the bias and efforts to fairly represent others, they viewed it negatively rather than helpful.

I hope what remains in these charts may still be helpful to start your process for researching the other’s and also to help you learn more about me.
